Answers to your most common questions

We know starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions. Here are clear answers to help you navigate the first steps on the Tiny Trails journey. If you don't see your question here, please reach out!

Getting Started & The Process

Q: How do I know if my child needs speech or feeding therapy?

It can be hard to know! If you are feeling concerned about your child’s development of first words, their clarity of speech, their social engagement, or if mealtimes are stressful due to picky eating or difficulty with chewing/swallowing, a consultation is a great next step. Our free discovery call is designed to talk through your concerns and help determine the best path forward.

Q: What is a Free Discovery Call and what happens during it?

This is a complimentary 15–30 minute phone call with me. We’ll discuss your primary concerns, your child’s age, and your family's goals. This call is a chance for us to ensure Tiny Trails is the right fit for your needs before moving forward with an evaluation.

Q: What does the evaluation process look like?

The evaluation is typically conducted in your home, where your child feels safest and most comfortable. It involves observations, play, and standardized assessments to fully understand your child’s current skills and developmental needs. We then collaborate with you to set clear, personalized goals.

Q: How often will my child need therapy?

Treatment frequency is completely individualized. Based on the evaluation findings and your family’s goals, we will recommend a schedule that is developmentally appropriate and sustainable for your family.

Q: Are parents involved in the therapy sessions?

Absolutely! Our approach is family-centered. We believe you are your child's most important guide. Sessions always involve coaching, hands-on strategies, and clear "guideposts" (home programing) to help integrate new skills into your daily routines.
